Welcome to the Vienna Youth, Inc. (VYI) Lacrosse home page. VYI Lacrosse participates in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). The purpose of the NVYLL is to provide the youth residing within the geographical boundaries of northern Virginia a healthful, enjoyable leisure time activity and as a corollary to develop qualities that may help them in later life, sportsmanship, team play, and integrity.
Our “Little Lax” program is designed as an introduction to lacrosse for our youngest lacrosse enthusiasts in the Greater Vienna area. The program is for 5-7 year olds, boys and girls. The emphasis is on FUN and GAMES, and keeping those little arms and legs moving!
The only equipment required is a lacrosse stick. (Beginner lacrosse sticks can be found at any local sporting goods store.)
Little Lax is a program that works best with lots of parental involvement – if you have lacrosse experience or any amount of coaching experience of any kind, please consider helping out! We will be glad to work with coaches/parents with limited or no prior lacrosse experience to make certain that coaches and players alike have a positive experience. (Note: VYI is a completely volunteer-run organization. Our coaches are ALL volunteers (not paid) and most are parents.)
Our six Little Lax sessions will be held at Field #2 at Clarks Crossing Park in Vienna, 4:00-5:00 pm, starting on Sunday, April 10, 2016. (Rain date: Sunday, May 22, 2016)
Concussion awareness is a growing topic in youth sports. In support of our athletes, VYI Lacrosse is providing an overview of concussions to both raise concussion awareness and also instill knowledge about the symptoms and risks of concussions across our coaching staff and parent community.
Please take a few minutes to review the information, which includes signs and symptoms of concussion and return to play risks and guidelines.
Parents are also encouraged to visit the "Heads-up" page on the CDC website to review concussion information and symptoms:
Many VYI Lacrosse activities take place at Oakton High School, on the Stadium Field and on Practice Field #1 (next to the stadium field).
PLEASE NOTE - Parking is NOT allowed on the grass by the fields, nor on the blacktop near the fields, NOR on the driveway leading up to the fields. All vehicles MUST park in the school's parking lots. Participants should park in the school's parking lots, and then walk up to the fields from the parking lots via the driveway.
The ONE exception is for properly handicap tagged vehicles. Such vehicles are allowed to park on the blacktop near the fields.
All VYI families can update their contact information: addresses, phone numbers and e-mails at any time. Here's how:
1) Click on the 'Edit My Account' button at the bottom of the lower left hand menu options.
2) Enter your e-mail address and password. (Don't know your password, just read the instructions above the data entry box.)
3) Click on any family member's name and you will have access to change what you need.
Keeping your information up to date is important. All VYI sports rely on the contact information in our database and out dated information may cause you to miss important updates.
